Special Announcement from the Chair of the Board

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to report that the Board of Trustees for St. Francis Medical Center has appointed David Ricci as the hospital’s Interim President.

Please join me in welcoming Dave, who previously was the interim CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare, the Trinity Health ministry in Wilmington, Delaware. He will arrive on campus the week of November 27th.

The St. Francis family suffered a great loss with the passing of Vince Cos-tantino in September, and he would have been proud at the manner in which you have all continued to serve your community. For certain, he would have been proud of your performance during your recent Joint Commission visit. I want to personally thank your Chief Medical Officer, C. James Romano, MD, for his leadership over these last few months. In recognition of Jim's steadfast commitment, leadership and numerous contributions, he has been promoted to Senior Vice President and CMO for St. Francis. Jim and the rest of the leadership team will join with Dave to lead the St. Francis family to achieve its goals.

I also wish to express appreciation for the support and stewardship of the St. Francis Board, especially your Board Chair Joseph Youngblood II, JD, PhD, and Vice-Chair, Mary C. Geary, RN, MSN.

St. Francis Medical Center is in a period of transition as we continue to work on a definitive agreement with Cooper University Health Care. The appointment of Dave as your leader will position the hospital well, providing his 35 years of experience and knowledge in the health care marketplace. Before his role in Wilmington, Dave was the President and CEO at Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark. He is a strategic leader who knows the tri-state market and our Regional Health Ministries extremely well.

After Dave's arrival at St. Francis, you can expect to meet him through a series of town meetings and through regular messaging in The Pulse. You also can expect him to be an active and engaging leader upon whom you can rely.

Thank you for your mission and dedication to serving your community, and best wishes for a festive Thanksgiving!

Ben Carter
