With more than 330 guests in attendance, the St. Francis Medical Center Foundation held its 53rd
annual spring gala, featuring the futuristic theme "InterGALActic Flight 2016"
at the Hyatt Regency Princeton on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
The Spirit of St. Francis honor has been presented by the hospital at its Gala since 1989. The honoree for the 2016 Spirit of St. Francis Award
was The Honorable Eric E. Jackson, Mayor of Trenton. The second annual Corporate Lighting the Way Award
was presented to Haldeman Lexus of Princeton - Brian S. Bennett, VP/General Manager. And the second annual Physician Healing Hands Awards
was presented to SFMC Cardiologists and Cardiothoracic Surgeons.The Chairwomen for this event were Maj. Gen. Maria Falca-Dodson, USAF, ret. and Cynthia Cocco-Minelli, CPO.
The “Intergalactic Flight 2016 " futuristic themed night featured star wars characters portrayed by the 501st Legion and a special galactic guest R2-D2 (Chris Reiff) who entertained the guests all evening and posed for pictures. The room beautifully depicted an 'out of this world' feeling as folks danced the night away. A video reel ran all night with highlights of the hospital activities from the previous year. The Auction and Basket raffle raised more than $8,000 and a highlight of the evening was the drawing of the SFMC Auxiliary Super 50/50 Raffle with a prize of $13,750. The lucky winner was Lisa Richford of Yardville, NJ.
Norma Monaghan, CFRE, President of the St. Francis Medical Center Foundation said, “The event raised a net of more than $130,000 to benefit St. Francis Medical Center and we are most grateful to the friends of St. Francis Medical Center who choose to support us. Their continued commitment helps us succeed in our mission to be a transforming, healing presence in the communities that we serve.”
Addressing the guests, C. James Romano M.D., Chief Medical Officer for St. Francis Medical Center, noted that" the Gala is the hospital's biggest fund raising event representing several million dollars investment since 1998. Investment in clinical programs, our facility and people is our objective. This event and the generosity of our sponsors and contributors make this investment possible."
