St. Francis holds blessing of newest technology in extensive comprehensive cardiac services

St. Francis Medical Center conducted a Blessing of their Hybrid Lab on Thursday, March 20th. The equipment and technology in the Hybrid Lab combines the imaging capabilities of a cardiac catheterization lab with the sterile environment of a conventional operating room (OR). As the one and only Heart Hospital in Mercer County, advanced technologies such as this provide the ability to continue to provide an impressive, comprehensive range of cardiac treatment services close to home.

Physicians, nurses, colleagues and the community all gathered in the balcony of the St. Francis chapel as Interim CEO and President Christy Stephenson welcomed the group. “March 20th, the first day of Spring, and, can you believe, the exact date in 1997 that we received the Certificate of Need to be the only hospital in Mercer County able to perform cardiac surgery.” The crowd applauded. Dr. Jay K. Patel, FACC, FSCAI, FACP, Medical Director of the St. Francis Medical Center Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Department and Dr. Eran Zacks, F.A.C.C. of the Arrhythmia Institute spoke to the group about the benefit this hybrid lab will have to the community and the advanced technology that is provides physicians in order to perform more complicated surgeries in an efficient and high quality manner. Father Carmen Carlone officiated the Blessing ceremony and hung a cross outside the Hybrid Lab entrance.

The hybrid lab allows St. Francis Medical Center to continue to provide expertise in the management of complex cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac device management, device implantation, and lead extractions. Our top-rated cardiologists and outstanding cardiac surgical team combine their compassion and skills at The Heart Hospital at St. Francis—the only state-recognized Regional Cardiac Center in Mercer County. St. Francis is proud to add the hybrid lab to their comprehensive cardiac services, offering the most advanced technology to deliver the best outcomes to their patients.
